The Rams have a new appearance this year, aside from the jersey switch to Nike, the Rams have many new faces on the coaching staff and on the roster. The Rams started their off-season with the hiring of new head coach Jeff Fisher, offensive coordinator Brian Shottenheimer and with new defensive coordinator Greg Williams suspended for the bounty system in New Orleans, the Rams have not announced a new coordinator yet for the team.
They also added CB Cortland Finnegan from the Tennessee Titans who played for Jeff Fisher his entire career.
Finnegan adds toughness to the Rams defense which is something they have lacked over the last few years. Finnegan adds the ability to hit hard but to also be a very good cover corner and with a strong core of WR’s in the NFC West, he will have his work cut out for him for the next few years.
The Rams are coming off of a strong draft where they selected DT Michael Brockers, WR Brian Quick and CD Janoris Jenkins with their 1st and early 2nd round picks. Brockers will finally give the Rams a strong defensive line and somebody who can provide pressure on the QB’s with DE Chris Long. These two players will help each other out in the long run and can very well become one of the best combos in this league at rushing the QB. Quick adds some size to the receiving core In St. Louis, he will join a Rams receiver core that lacks a lot of size and with Quick’s ability to go up and grab the ball, he will be a nice red zone target for QB Sam Bradford. Jenkins is projected to come in and be the 2nd starting CB next to Cortland Finnegan and with his ability to read the play well and cover very well, the Rams will have two very good CB’s on the field at all times.
The Rams are looking to have a bounce back season, with hopefully a full 16 game season from QB Sam Bradford and with some new weapons for him on the field, Rams fan are hoping to see them compete for the NFC West this season. It may be a long shot but if the offensive line can keep the pressure off Bradford, who we know is a very talented QB and can lead his team to victory, they can very well see their team win anywhere from 8-10 games this season which may put them in the hunt for the NFC West or at the very least a wild card spot.
