Game #1: West Alabama at Valdosta St. (September 22, 2012): This top 25 matchup pins Valdosta State, ranked 11th, versus a 14th ranked West Alabama squad. West Alabama’s defense is lead by two stud linebackers in Poe and Lacey. Well, their counterparts on the Valdosta State defense are linebackers Smith and Pope. This matchup pins the top two talented teams in the GSC off early in the season.
Although this game is important it’s far too early in the season to declare the loser out of the title race.
Game #2: Delta St. at Elizabeth City State (September 8, 2012): The most talented team in the CIAA goes against the D2 powerhouse in Delta St.
This game will be interesting to watch because Elizabeth City State will be in the game due to the running of Daronte McNeill, a player of the year candidate. The man designated to stop McNeill will be Ixavier Triplett. This linebacker will be all over the field and if Delta State is to win this game it will be because of Triplett.
Game #3: North Alabama at West Alabama (November 10, 2012): Well, the early season matchup between UWA and VSU might not decide the GSC title, but this game certainly will. The last game of the season for both teams will put an extreme amount of pressure on these teams as they are expected to be in the title race.
Game #4: North Alabama at West Georgia (October 18, 2012): West Georgia is certainly the outcast of the conference. No one is giving them a chance to really make a run at the GSC title and it’s a fair assessment with the teams above them being ranked in the top 25. This game could be a statement game that affects the GSC standing because UWG is talented while there are some questions about UNA. This game could be put UWG on the map and allow them to finish higher than what the experts think.
2012 Predictions:
GSC Champion: West Alabama
Sleeper: North Alabama
