Buccaneers DT Eric LeGrand took the stage at the ESPYS last night as the recipient of the Jimmy V Perseverance Award.
This may very well be one of the shortest articles I have written for our site. There are no words possible that can take the place of Eric LeGrand’s own speech last night. I truly implore you to take a moment out of your day and grasp what this young man is saying to you.
We all have many family members, friends, and acquaintances that consistently speak of the dark cloud that follows them. Nothing is going right in their lives, they don’t have what they want, they can’t do the things they want to do, and so on.
This young man’s whole world crumbled to the ground in a single instance.
Do you hear him say, even one time, why me? No. Look at the smile he has on his face and the hear the determination in his voice. Will he ever walk again? I don’t know. Will he leave this earth doing every single thing he is humanly possible of doing to try to walk again? YOU BET YOUR SWEET ASS!!
Go on Eric LeGrand! As Jimmy V said so valiantly, “Don’t you quit! Don’t you ever quit!”.
