ASHBURN – Trent Williams and Chris Neild both sustained injuries either during or since last week’s pre-season game in Buffalo. And now Mike Shanahan must add Roy Helu Jr’s name to the list of ‘not so healthy Washington Redskins.’ Rich Campbell of The Washington Times Tweeted the following message Monday afternoon:
“Shanahan: Roy Helu has Achilles tendonitis.”
While the news may not sound very daunting, tendonitis can cause serious long-term problems and further complications for athletes. The last thing the Redskins need is the loss of the team’s most versatile running back.
Although it is not certain if, or how much time Helu will miss, this is not good news for Redskin fans.
Williams apparently hurt the top of his foot while blocking on the PAT after Robert Griffin hit Pierre Garcon for a 20-yard touchdown last Thursday night, in Washington’s 7-6 win over the Bills. Meanwhile Neild is due for an MRI after aggravating a knee. Hopefully this quick trend will end and the infamous Injured Reserve list from last season will remain in the trash.
