#13 USC @ Utah – This game is intriguing if Khaled Holmes plays. He will get the chance to go up against Star Lotuletei who is the top rated defensive tackle in college football. If Holmes is unable to go, Lotuletei could have a big day and slow down the Trojans in a similar fashion that Stanford did. This game will also be in Salt Lake City which in my opinion is the most underrated college football scene in the nation.
Prediction: USC 38 Utah 13
Arkansas @ Auburn – The Hogs travel to Auburn in a game that has bowl hopes on the line. The loser of this game can kiss their bowl hopes good-bye as the schedule would be tough to reach the six win mark. The Hogs passing game is still explosive and Tyler Wilson to Cobi Hamilton connection has hit full stride.
The Tigers passing defense is average at best but the defensive line led by Corey Lemonier. Lemonier has five sacks with four of those coming in the Clemson and LSU games. I expect the Hogs to explode on offense and put the ball in the end zone this game.
Prediction: Arkansas 45 Auburn 31
Arizona @ #18 Stanford – Arizona was in the red zone six times versus Oregon and couldn’t punch it in. The Wildcats offense under Rich Rod is starting to click. They have plenty of speed and will look to spread the field versus a tough Cardinal defense who gave up 144 yards to Bishop Sankey in their upset loss to the Huskies. The Cardinals need to get a good game from Josh Nunes who struggled against the Huskies. Look for Matt Scott to have a big game versus the Cardinals throwing the ball for the Wildcats and continue his good season.
Prediction: Stanford 27 Arizona 17
#4 LSU @ #10 Florida – The Tigers and Gators are both out to prove that they are an elite team. The Tigers have been lackluster the past two weeks versus Auburn and Towson. The Gators are looking to show that the rebuilding process is complete and win their first marquee game of the Muschamp era. Both teams games will hinge on the play of their quarterbacks. Jeff Driskel has looked much improved this year under Brent Pease but has yet to be tested versus a defense like LSU. LSU is able to apply pressure up front and defend on the back-end. Zach Mettenberger is known as a gunslinger from his high school to junior college days but is struggling to this point. The struggles are a mix of play calling, protection, and Mettenberger producing. The Gators were able to contain Tyler Bray but have given up over 100 yards on the ground in three of their four games.
Prediction: LSU 24 Florida 17
#17 Oklahoma @ Texas Tech – Guess who is allowing the fewest yards per game in all of college football? Yes, the Red Raiders are only allowing 167.5 yards per game. Okay, Okay, their competition has been less than stellar but they did beat Paul Rhodes Iowa State team last week for their first significant win. The Red Raiders will now get to face Landry Jones and Damien Williams as the Sooners invade Lubbock. Landry Jones has been solid but not great this season and has struggled since losing Ryan Broyles last season to an injury. Damien Williams was on a roll until facing the Kansas State defense where he only had 10 carries for 34 yards. The Red Raiders offense is once again slinging it around the park with Seth Doege. He has 15 touchdowns already this season and has six receivers with over 10 receptions this season.
Prediction: Oklahoma 31 Texas Tech 24
