Fantasy Profile: Rashad Jennings (RB, Jaguars)

It seems like running backs are dropping like flies here at the midpoint of the 2012 season. The latest to pull up lame is Jags RB, Maurice Jones-Drew. That’s a pretty unfortunate thing since Jacksonville isn’t very good anyway, and MJD is pretty much the only thing they have going. That said, Rashad Jennings will be stepping up into the feature role for the Jags. The upside is that he has proven to be a capable back when given the opportunity.

He’s shown decent elusiveness as a runner and has been a more than capable receiver out of the backfield.

In Week 7 Jennings rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown along with 7 receptions for 58 yards. While the ground numbers weren’t so hot, he showed that he can be a valuable receiver when Gabbert was looking to check down. Regardless of your excitement about a ground game, from a fantasy perspective you can’t complain about 102 yards and a touchdown. Look for his performance to improve in the coming weeks as the schedule turns favorable against some weaker defenses.
