Super Bowl Predictions

super bowl 47Finally were here. To the final game of the year, the Superbowl. So here are my predictions for the big game, Super Bowl 47.

To start off im going to go by position starting with quarterback. Now everyone is buzzing about 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick but Joe Flacco, starting QB for the Ravens, is having one of the best seasons of his career. It’s tough to chose because they are to very different players.

Kaepernick runs the read options and Flacco runs more of a traditional NFL offense.

Joe Flacco has shown to be a hot or cold player but right now, he is on fire. But don’t count Kaepernick out of the picture who proved himself when he ran all over the Packers in the divisional round, setting the record for most rushing yards in a playoff game by a QB. A combination that has been working throughout the playoffs is Kaepernick to Vernon Davis. They have a good connection which I belive that the Ravens linebackers will have a tough time covering him. However, Flacco to Torrey Smith has looked even better. They connected for two deep touchdowns against the Broncos and they were looking good against the Partiots. I don’t see why it wouldn’t continue in the big game.

EDGE: BALTIMORE RAVENS

Now on to running backs. Most people would thing it is a landslide for Ravens RB Ray Rice but Frank Gore has been playing just aswell in my opinion. Also on the 49ers they have LeMichael James who had a nice touchdown in the conference championship to trigger the comeback. Together they are a very good combo but the question is are they better than Ray Rice? I think not. Rice is an all around skilled RB who can receive, run outside, and don’t let his size fool you he has power. With the two weeks break Ray Rice will have a fresh pair of legs ready to go.

EDGE: BALTIMORE RAVENS

This, in my opinion, is the closest of all categorizes. receiving. Both of the teams do not have the best reviving core, but they definitely don’t have the worst. The big gun for the teams are Michael Crabtree for the 49ers and Torrey Smith for the Ravens. Crabtree has really shown that he can be a number one WR in the league but Smith has shown it even better. Smith has been super explosive with the deep ball, he will have more trouble against Carlos Rogers but I would still pick him over Crabtree. For TEs it’s a different story. Although I am a huge fan of Dennis Pitta of the Ravens, like I mentioned before Vernon Davis is playing good. Also Pitta will have a tougher time against Patrick Wills and the 49ers secondary than he did against the Patriots who did struggle covering over the middle of the fields throughout the season. The deal breaker for me is going to be Anquon Blodin from the Baltimore Ravens. He showed up last game against the Patriots and I haven’t even mentioned Jacoby Jones.

EDGE: BALTIMORE RAVENS

So far all of the categorize have gone to the Ravens, will that change when it comes to offensive lines? In my opinion no. Both of these teams are playing great on the o-line but the Ravens line is just playing better football. With players like Michael Oher on the line I see then winning the battle on the offensive line.

EDGE: BALTIMORE RAVENS

So I obviously think that the Ravens have a better offense. I can’t say the same about defense though. I’ll start with the defensive line. Even though the Ravens have Haloti Ngata I would, along with most other people, would take Justin Smith over him. I would have to say the 49ers get this one.

EDGE: SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

These two teams have the two best linebackers probably in the league. But it is still an obvious choice. Sure the Ravens have Terell Suggs and the great Ray Lewis but it just can’t beat the 49ers Patrick Willis, Navarow Boman, Aldon Smith, and Ahmad Brooks. It’s an easy choice.

EDGE: SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

So the last position to go over on the defense is the secondary. The Ravens do have Ed Reed who would have attended the pro bowl if he wasn’t in the big game. He was replaced by Bills FS Jarius Byrd. But he isn’t the player he used to be but still can make a good play. On the other side with Carloz Rogers and Donte Whitner, who were both voted to the pro bowl. Also with Dashon Goldson. I’m going to pick San Fran.

EDGE: SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

So now onto the final one of the day. Special Teams. With kicking David Akers has been awful. He has missed over 13 field goals this year. He is the opposite of trustful. And then you have Justin Tucker who kicked them passed the Broncos. Then you have Jacoby Jones who has been very dangerous with his kick and punt returning.

EDGE: BALTIMORE RAVENS

Alright so as you can see it is very close. But in the end im going to say the Baltimore Ravens take the win.

BALTIMORE RAVENS – 24 SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS – 17

WINNER: BALTIMORE RAVENS
